About

I’m a writer and editor in New York. Since 2020, I’ve been an associate editor at The Drift magazine, where I edit features, Mentions, and our biweekly newsletter. From 2021 until it was shut down again in 2023, I blogged for the Gawker reboot. Before that, I covered culture and money for The Daily Beast. My work has also appeared in The New Yorker, Bookforum, The Paris Review, The Guardian, The New York Times, Air Mail, Deseret magazine, and Miami New Times.

My first book, BARBIELAND: The Unauthorized History, came out December 2, 2025 from Simon & Schuster’s One Signal imprint. The New York Times called it “rollicking.” Amazon named it a “Best Book of the Month” and an “Editors’ Pick.” Slate published an excerpt about doll genitalia here. The Nation published another about Nazi toy makers here. You can order it here.

My agent is Alice Whitwham at The Cheney Agency. You can reach me on Twitter, Instagram, Bluesky, or by email. For secure messaging, try [myfirstname] at [protonmail] dot com. For normal email, try [firstnamelastname] at [google’smailapp] dot com.
